A court here Friday sentenced seven people, including a father-son duo, to life imprisonment in connection with a nine-year-old murder case in
West Champaran district.
Fast track court judge Om Prakash held the seven people guilty of killing Raghubir Mahto in 2009 over a land dispute.
The court also slapped a fine of Rs 5,000 each on Lalji Bin and his son Devanand Bin, Ramjit Bin, Lalbabu Bin, Ramakant Bin, Bhulan Bin and Dafadar Mian.
All the convict belong to Purainia village of the district.
Additional Public Prosecutor (APP) Arvind Yadav said that the seven people attacked Raghubir Mahto, Jagdish Mukhiya, Arjun Mukhiya and Ganpat Mukhiya with sharp weapons and lathis in Purainia village.
Raghubir Mahto died during the course of treatment at Patna.
