72-yr-old-man sexually abuses mentally-challenged minor girl

A mentally-challenged minor girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by a 72-year-old relative of hers who has been absconding after the matter came to light.

According to the FIR lodged by the girl's mother on Sept. 28, the accused allegedly sexually assaulted the girl and also threatened her against talking about the matter to anybody.

The officer-in-charge of Kamarda police station and the investigating officer in the case, Brahmananda Nayak, said that a case has been registered and the victim has been medically examined.

"The investigation is on. The accused went absconding three days prior to the lodging of the FIR," said Nayak.
 

Efforts are on to apprehend the accused, he said while rejecting allegations that police was avoiding arresting the accused.
