763 kg ganja seized in Patna

Intelligence (DRI) arrested two persons and seized 763 KG ganja worth Rs 31 lakh hidden in an oil tanker in Patna district during the wee hours today.

DRI officials said the arrests and seizure were made in Bihta area of Patna district and the arrested have been identified as Devendra Mishra of Hardoi in Uttar Pradesh and Jhamlal Yadav of Udwantnagar in Bhojpur district in Bihar.

"These persons had made a special chamber inside an oil tanker and had hid the narcotic weed in it. They had brought it from Odisha and were transporting it to Uttar Pradesh via Bhojpur," said a DRI official.
 

The officials said the operation was conducted on the basis of a tip-off that a major consignment of ganja was being transported from Odisha to Uttar Pradesh.
