Earnings of Salem Railway Division in the just concluded fiscal stood at Rs.548 crore, an increase of 8.5 per cent, over the last year's earning of Rs.505 crore, a senior official said today.
Speaking at the 59th Railway Week celebrations at Salem Junction, Divisional Railway Manager, Shubhranshu, said the punctuality rate of trains has gone up from 92.32 per cent in 2012-13 to 93.1 per cent in 2013-14, a Southern Railway release said.
Efforts are undertaken to complete the doubling works of Salem-Mettur Dam section by the current fiscal, he said.

Referring to Coimbatore junction, he said that a battery operated car for the use of elderly and differently abled persons will be put to use from tomorrow.
Efforts will be taken to install an emergency medical centre at Coimbatore, on the lines of Salem, Karur and Erode junctions, Shubhranshu said.
