8 drug peddlers nabbed in Valley: Police

Eight alleged drug peddlers were arrested along with a cache of contraband substances today in three separate operations in Ganderbal, Baramulla and Anantnag districts of Kashmir Valley, police said.

A gang of drug peddlers was busted with the arrest of its four members including three non-locals in Ganderbal district, a police spokesman said.

He said 13 kgs of Cannabis and 155 tablets prescription drugs were recovered at the instance of the arrested peddlers.

Two "notorious" peddlers were arrested from Pattan area of Baramulla district in north Kashmir and 2.5 kgs of fukki powder were recovered from them, the spokesman said.
 

The arrested peddlers were identified as Mudasir Ramzan Ganaie of Wanigam and Mushtaq Ahmad Dar of Khambiyar Village of Pattan town.

In another operation, he said two more drug peddlers were arrested during checking at FM Gali on Khanabal-Pahalgam road in Anantnag district of south Kashmir.

Mohammad Iqbal Sheikh of Batapora-Khanabal and Gowher Ahmed Wani of Adigam village of Budgam were wanted drug peddlers and 176 tablets of prescription drugs were recovered from them, the spokesman said.

All the eight peddlers were booked under NDPS Act and are being questioned, the spokesman said.
