A landslide triggered by heavy rains today hit a village in China's southwest Sichuan province, killing eight persons and injuring five, authorities said.
Seventeen people were also missing in the landslide which struck at around 6 AM (local time) in Puge county's Gengdi village in Liangshan Yi autonomous prefecture, according to the information office of the prefecture government.
Rescue work was underway, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
