An eight-year-old girl was
allegedly murdered by an unidentified person who slit her throat in her house at Yellampet on city outskirts today, police said.
The incident occurred between 2 pm and 3 pm when the girl's parents were away to their workplace while her elder sister was sleeping in adjoining room.
According to police, the eight-year-old was found lying in washroom with cut injuries by her aunt who had come to give food to the family, and rushed her to a nearby hospital.
"As per preliminary information an unidentified person gained entry into the victim's house and slit her throat and caused injuries on her wrist. She died while being taken to a hospital," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Balanagar) Y Sai Sekhar told PTI.
A case under section 302 (murder) of IPC has been registered and further investigation is on.
