An 80-year-old man was arrested from Mumbai for his alleged involvement in arms smuggling by the Uttar Pradesh Police today.
"Alvin Disa was arrested by joint teams of UP and Mumbai ATS from an apartment in Dadar West area of Mumbai," Additional Director General, Law and Order Arun Kumar told reporters here.
The ATS recovered a consignment of 12 pistol grips, a number of magazines of different bores, cartridges of .32 and .22 bore guns from Alvin's house, Kumar said.

Disa and his gang members used to sell illegal foreign made weapons to anti-national and anti-social elements, the officer said.
Disa is a former Air India official who retired in 1991, the ADG said, adding that he would be brought to Lucknow.
Four members of the gang were arrested on April 18.
During interrogation, one of them told ATS that with the help of his associate in Mumbai they used to get parcels of weapon parts from Singapore and Canada.
Later, these parts were assembled with the help of EDM (electronic device machines) in accordance with the catalogue and sold to anti-social, anti-national and also to those involved in underworld besides proper licence holders at high rates, the officer said.
