83-year-old lifer dies in hospital

An 83-year-old prisoner, serving a life term in a murder case, died today at the Government Hospital here after a brief illness, police said.

Ramasamy, a resident of Rakkipalayam in Tirupur district was sentenced to life in connection with the 2010 murder and lodged in the Central prison, they said.

He died this morning, police added.

The octogenarian was admitted to the hospital with lung related complaints on September 13, they said.
