9-yr old boy drowns

A nine-year-old boy drowned in Jhelum river here while playing on river bank near his residence, police said today.

Faisal Ali Sheikh, a resident of Pamposh Colony in Palpora area of Srinagar, slipped into the river yesterday and drowned, a police spokesman said.

River Police has been pressed into service to retrieve the body from the river, he said.
