9-yr-old girl sexually assaulted by relative

A nine-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by her relative at her residence in Ammapet area in the city, police said.

The incident occurred last evening while her mother was away at work in a quarry. Her father had passed away some time back.

Police said the woman returned home to find her daughter in tears, questioned her and later lodged a complaint with police, following which the 23-year-old man was arrested.
