9344 posts of Assam Police to be filled up soon

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today said a total of 9344 vacancies in Assam Police will be filled up very soon.

Chairing a meeting here Sonowal directed Chief Secretary V K Pipersenia and Home Commissioner L S Changsan to complete the modalities for taking up the recruitment process soon.

Of the 9344 vacancies, the process has already been started for 5013 new vacancies, officials said.

Of the new vacancies 17 posts are earmarked for Sub-Inspector, 1541 for Un-armed Branch of Constables and 3455 are for Armed Branch of Constables in Assam Police, the officials said.

Among the existing 4331 vacancies, 346 posts are for Sub-Inspectors, 2569 for Un-armed Branch of Constables and 1416 for Armed Branch of Constables in Barpeta, Nagaon and Dhubri districts and this existing recruitment process will be completed by February 2017, they added.
