98 acres excise area to be acquired for freight corridor

Around 98 acres of land falling in excise area of Ambala cantonment will be acquired for the construction of Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor.

After a meeting with the Railway officers here today Deputy Commissioner Prabhjot Singh directed the revenue department to mark the land.

He also asked the Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) to remove the constructions made on the said land.

Singh said the occupants of the demolished houses would be allotted flats constructed under Ashiyana scheme in HUDA sector on easy installments.

The Deputy Commissioner said the house owners would also be compensated by the Railway department.

Singh said police would remove the encroachment forcibly and strict action would be taken if anyone interfered in removing them.
 

Some persons had constructed their houses illegally which would be removed at every cost, he added.
