AANLA militant arrested

A militant belonging to

the All-Adivasi National Liberation Army was arrested along with a cache of arms and ammunition from Sonitpur district.

According to Sonitpur Superintendent of Police Sanjukta Parasar, the AANLA cadre was nabbed by a joint team of Assam Police and Assam Rifles last night from Santipur near Batachipur under Dhekiajuli police station.

The militant has been identified as Surja Nayak (35) alias Rocky, she added.

The security forces have also recovered a pistol, some live ammunition, two mobile sets and some objectionable documents from his possession, Parasar said.
