The Aam Aadmi Party has assured creation of a transport hub in Ponda town with all the facilities for the truckers, if they are voted to power in the Goa Assembly polls, due next year.

AAP leader and Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who today interacted with a group of transporters in Ponda, 30 kms away from here, promised that the party will look into each and every issue of the truckers.

"When we get into the power after Goa polls, the first priority would be to create a transport hub in Ponda," he said after listening to the grievances of the transporters.

Ponda has majority of the transport offices due to its proximity to neighbouring Karnataka and Maharashtra.

Sisodia said the problems faced by the transporters cannot be ignored as they are linked to everybody's life.

"The efficient transport system can help us to control inflation. The economy is dependent on this business," he added.

Sisodia informed the transporters about measures taken by Delhi government.

Earlier in the day, Sisodia met AAP leader Ajitsingh Rane who had gone on a hunger strike at Azad Maidan here to highlight the plight of truck drivers employed in the mining sector.
