Abandoned new born baby mauled to death by dogs

A newborn baby dumped in a garbage bin at nearby Tirupur was mauled to death by some stray dogs today, police said.

Residents in the Kumarapalayam area in the town woke up to the wails of the baby early this morning. On searching, they found some dogs jumping out of the bin.

However, by the time the residents reached the spot, the newborn was already dead, they said.

The body was sent for post-mortem, police added.
