Accused in gold coin missing case sentenced

A court today sentenced the lone accused in the case relating to missing of gold coin of Tirumala Tirupati Devastanam to three years rigorous imprisonment and imposed on him a fine of Rs 10,000.

The CBCID court declared Venkatchalam, who was working in the Tirumala Tirupati Devastanam (TTD), which manages the Lord Venketeswara Temple, in the gold dollar sales wing, was guilty.

In all 34 witnesses were produced by the prosecution.

The incident took place in 2006 and Venkatachalam confessed to the crime to CBCID officials. He was placed under suspension after the incident.
