The Station House Officer of Sunlight Colony Police Station in south-east Delhi has been shunted to the district lines after a video clip surfaced which purportedly shows he and his team assaulting a man who later turned out to be the husband of a police sub-inspector.
Inspector Pradip Kumar Paliwal, SHO of Sunlight Colony, has been sent to district lines and an inquiry initiated to probe his conduct, Joint Commissioner of Police (South-East) R P Upadhyay said.
The matter came to light when the sub-inspector approached Delhi Police's top brass yesterday with the two-minute-long video clip in which Paliwal and his men were seen slapping her husband several times after an argument at a local eatery and later dragging him towards the main road.

The sub-inspector told top officials that her husband had rented out the premises to a man who runs an eatery and he (husband) was being harassed for alleged encroachment, a police source said.
During investigation, it emerged that the man who could be seen being beaten up in the video was named in a rioting case. The investigating officer in the rioting case has now been instructed to file the chargesheet only after consulting the concerned DCP.
Meanwhile, an Additional DCP-rank officer has been tasked with monitoring all developments in connection with the matter.
