Action against unauthorised construction in Delhi

A total of 60,107 complaints of unauthorised construction in Delhi have been received by the concerned municipal bodies during 2014 and action in the form of demolition and sealing has been taken in respect of 5,795 complaints, the Lok Sabha was informed today.

Action in such cases is taken under the Delhi Municipal Act, 1957, New Delhi Municipal Council Act, 1994, Cantonment Act, 2006, Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorised Occupants) Act, 1971 and Building Bye-Laws, Minister of State for Urban Development Babul Supriyo said in the House.

Delhi Development Authority has said that they have not allotted land to any private companies and NGOs during the last three years and allotment/lease deed of two schools have been cancelled for violation of terms and conditions.
