Actor Vikram Gokhale to be honoured at Goa Marathi film fest

Veteran actor Vikram Gokhale would be honoured with the prestigious lifetime achievement award during the Goa Marathi Film Festival (GMFF) scheduled to be held here from June 28.

"We are honoured to give the award to Vikram Gokhale who has been one of the most experienced and talented artists in Marathi and Hindi film industry," Sanjay Shetye, the organizer of GMFF, told reporters here today.

The GMFF Kritadnyata Puraskar would be conferred upon the 72-year-old during the two-day fest, for his outstanding contribution to Marathi film industry.

Shetye said that many celebrities including Farhan Akhtar, Kiran Rao, Mahesh Manjrekar, Gauri Shinde, Sachin Khedekar, Sonali Kulkarni, Milind Soman, Smita Tambe, Shradha Marathe, Subodh Bhave, Kishori Shahane, Sandip Kulkarni, Manava Naik, Saie Tamhankar and others would be participating in the festival.
 

"Around 15 carefully selected films would be screened during the festival," he said.

According to Dnyanesh Moghe, a Konkani film director and GMFF organizer, Marathi movie "Postcard" by Gajendra Ahire would be premiered during the festival.

The organizers claim that they have invited bollywood veterans like Amitabh Bachchan, wife Jaya and Akshay Kumar to inaugurate the festival, but they are yet to confirm their presence.

Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray has also been invited, Shetye said.

The festival will have competition for short films in any language, while there would be workshop on how to send your film for these kind of festivals, he said.

A special discussion by women filmmakers would also be a highlight of the festival, Shetye added.
