Madras High Court Judge, Justice M Jaichandran today inaugurated the Additional Family Court in the District Court Complex here.
Speaking at the inaugural function, Justice Jaichandran said this was the realisation of long cherished dream of the people of Coimbatore.
He said there were 4,599 pending cases in the family court, established in 1995 in the city, and the additional court was set up to dispose of them faster.

He said that 12 vacancies in the family courts in the district will be filled soon, adding, the staff strength would also be increased.
Minister for Municipal Administration, Law and Central Prisons S P Velumani said the government has spent Rs 230.56 crore for construction of new court building, quarters for judges and other court related infrastructures in the last three years.
Principal District Judge, N Seshasayee, Bar Association president, Nandakumar and District Collector, Archana Patnaik were also present on the occasion.
