Administration committed to conduct free, fair poll in Bihar

Presiding over a meeting with senior officials to review preparation for general election, Chief Secretary A K Sinha today said that the administration was committed to conduct a free and fair poll in a peaceful manner in Bihar.

Singh directed the officials to take elaborate steps to not only conduct a free and fair poll in Bihar in a peaceful manner, but also ensure that the voters turn out in large number.

The meeting was attended by officials like the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Ajay V. Naik, Principal Secretary (Home) Amir Subhani, the Director General of Police (DGP) Abhayanand iterated their commitment to ensure a free and fair parliamentary polls in Bihar.
 

Speaking on the occasion, Naik highlighted a low voters turn out at 44 per cent in Bihar during 2009 general elections even as the figure in other states was recorded at about 70 per cent.

He urged the district officials to carry out an awareness campaign among the electorate so that they go to the polling booths and caste their franchise.
