K Vijay Kumar, the advisor to Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik, Saturday visited Poonch and reviewed developmental and security scenario in the border district, an official spokesman said.
Kumar held separate meetings with the local legislators, civil and police administration and met several public delegations during the day-long visit to have first-hand information about the developmental and security issues of the area, the spokesman said.
The advisor held a meeting with top brass of police, Army, BSF and CRPF in the office of senior superintendent of police to review the overall security scenario in the district.
He also visited the border area of Maltigate and received first-hand knowledge of border fencing and border posts, the spokesman said.
In his meeting with the local legislators -- Poonch MLA Shah Mohammad Tantray, MLC Pradeep Sharma and MLC Yashpal Sharma -- the advisor was apprised of various issues, including vacancies of medical staff, augmentation of bed capacity in district hospital in Poonch, requirement of bullet proof ambulances for evacuation of injured during cross-border firing and inclusion of Poonch town in the Actual Line of Control category.

Kumar assured that all the demands would be looked into and some of these have already been discussed with the governor, the spokesman said.
The advisor met various public delegations from across the district, including border residents, and also took a detailed review of the developmental scenario in the district.
He directed the departments concerned to complete the languishing projects on priority basis, the spokesman said, adding that Kumar also directed the officers to identify and evict encroachers to stop the menace of encroachment of forest, state and Kahcharai land.
