An advocate was shot dead outside his house in Ram Nagar colony here, following which four people have been arrested, the police said today.

Ram Gopal was shot dead when he was out for a walk last night, they said.

"Four people have been arrested and a search is on for the fifth accused," SSP Swapnil Mamgai said, adding that a case has been registered at the Vrindaban police station on the basis of a complaint lodge by Gopal's son.

The officer said that the advocate died at a private hospital during treatment.

The police suspect that Gopal was killed over a land dispute.
