An Afghan official says a provincial director of the national tax office has been killed by insurgents in the eastern Ghazni province.
Mohammad Ali Ahmedi, Ghazni's deputy governor, said insurgents stopped the director's vehicle, dragged him out and shot him dead as he was on his way to his office early today morning.
Ahmedi blamed Taliban gunmen, though a 14-year war is often an umbrella for more localised violence.
