An AICC meeting is expected to be held in April amid speculation that it could see elevation of Rahul Gandhi as the Congress President.

Party sources, however, said neither date nor venue and agenda of the meeting have been finalised yet.

Sources say the AICC meeting will be held during the recess in the Budget Session of Parliament, mainly for amending the party's constitution.

Party's membership drive has been extended till this month end following which the process of organisational election would be set rolling and it will conclude with the election of the party's chief.

Sonia Gandhi is the longest serving President of the 130-year-old party, being at the helm since March 1998.

Rahul Gandhi was elevated as the party's Vice President at the Jaipur 'chintan shivir' in January 2013.
