Air Force band, drill team performs at Tihar jail

With an aim to develop positive attitude and self-worth and confidence among inmates, a performance was held by the Indian Air Force band and Air Warrior Drill Team (AWDT) at Tihar jail here.

The spectacular performance by the Band and the Drill Team was appreciated by more than 2,000 inmates and officials in Central Jail No. 1 of Tihar yesterday evening.

The AWDT during their display performed advanced rifle drill movements while the Band played 18 tunes including "Rejoice in Raisina, Vande Matram and few Bollywood numbers".

A team of Air Force officers led by Air Commodore, B G Chaudhary also visited the jail.
 

"It has been a constant endeavour of Tihar Jail to develop positive attitude and interest in life of inmates and maintain a level of self-worth and confidence," Tihar jail's chief PRO Sunil Kumar Gupta said.

"All the visitors appreciated the initiative taken by Prison Department, which not only entertained all the inmates of jail but also helped them in developing a positive attitude and interest in life," Superintendent of Central Jail No. 1, Naveen Katarya said.

Thanking the Air Force for their spectacular show, Director General, Tihar, Vimlaa Mehra, also spoke on the occasion.
