Telecom major Bharti Airtel today said it has launched 4G services in Gangtok and will also expand the high-speed service to other parts of Sikkim in coming days.
The 4G services would use dual spectrum bands of 2,300 Mhz (TD LTE) and 1,800 Mhz (FD LTE) riding on the latest Carrier Aggregation technology to offer prime mobile broadband experience in Gangtok for the time being.
"We will expand our 4G footprint to other parts of Sikkim in the coming days," Airtel CEO (West Bengal & Odhisa) Inder Nath said.
Customers can now enjoy uninterrupted HD video streaming, superfast uploading and downloading of movies, music and images.
Airtel 4G is available to customers across a range of smart devices including mobile phones, dongles and 4G hotspots.

will directly have 50.33 per cent stake, Nettle or the potential investor 21.63 per cent and other shareholder will have 28.04 per cent stake in Bharti Infratel.
The consolidated tower base of Bharti Infratel, including its share in Indus Towers, stood at 90,255 towers at the end of 2016.
While Bharti Airtel posted around 50 per cent decline in its net profit for the third quarter ended December 31, 2016, its mobile tower arm registered 25 per cent increase in consolidated net profit at Rs 620 crore for the same quarter.
It had posted a net profit of Rs 495 crore in the same period of last fiscal, 2015-16.
The consolidated revenue of Bharti Infratel increased by 10 per cent to Rs 3,400 crore during the October-December quarter of 2016-17, as against Rs 3,105.5 crore posted in the same period of 2015-16.
