An alert train pilot has been honoured by the railways for his prompt action and applying emergency brake that averted a possible mishap.
Dileep Singh Meena, Sr Assistant Loco-Pilot of Visakhapatnam station of East Coast Railway (ECoR) while on duty in 12807 Visakhapatnam-Nizamuddin Samata Express from Visakhapatnam to Titilagarh on July 27 observed that a tractor tried to cross the track in front of the approaching train between Kandel Road and Kesinga Station.
Meena immediately applied emergency brake and controlled the train in time which averted a major disaster and saved human life and railway property, an ECoR statement said.
Due to the alertness and prompt action of loco-pilot Meena, general manager of ECoR Umesh Singh felicitated him with cash award, it said.
