Alligator pulls down man into Chambal river

A 45-year-old man was allegedly pulled down by an alligator into the river while he was immersing goddess Durga idol into Chambal here, police said today.

The incident occurred yesterday when Raguveer along with other people were immersing goddess Durga idols into flowing chambal river here yesterday, when he was pulled down by an alligator, DY SP Sateesh Yadav said.

Divers were searching the missing man since last evening, but so far he was not recovered, DySP said.

Devotees present near the site observed that alligator pulled him down into the river and probably swallowed him alive, quoting eye witnesses, the cop said.
