Yet another lion has died at the Etawah Lion Safari Park in Uttar Pradesh, in a setback to the dream project of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav which has seen three adult big cats and five cubs perish since 2014.

Deputy director of Etawah Lion Safari Park, Sanjay Srivastava, said that the lion — known as Kuber — was brought from Lucknow zoological garden in 2014.

He said that the lion was ill since April 16 and was being treated by a team of doctors, but he died yesterday.

Post mortem of Kuber had been performed by a team of doctors.

The safari now has three lions and four lionesses.

Two lionesses, Lakshmi and Tapasya, and a lion, along with five tiger cubs have died since 2014.

Taking serious note of Tapasya's death in Januray this year, the Chief Minister had removed chief forest conservator S K Upadhyaya.
