In an alleged incident of sacrilege, a few pages of the Sikh holy book were today found "torn" in a gurdwara here, police said.

The incident came to light when some women entered Gurdwara Marar this morning.

They informed the Gurdwara management, which later filed a complaint with police, based on which a case was registered against some unidentified persons.

Congress MLA from Fatehgarh Churian, Tripat Rajinder Singh Bajwa and SAD leader Nirmal Singh Kahlon asked police to probe the matter and take stern action against the accused.

Punjab, which goes to polls next year, has witnessed many sacrilege incidents, leading to widespread violence in the state in which two persons were killed and many injured.
