A court today rejected the anticipatory bail plea of CPI-M Kannur district Secretary P Jayarajan who apprehended arrest in connection with the case related to the murder of an RSS activist in September last year.

Thalasseri District Sessions Judge R Narayana Pissarady dismissed the bail application on the ground that Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) sections have been slapped in the case probed by CBI.

Jayarajan was recently questioned by CBI in connection with the case which related to the killing of 32-year old Manoj, a local office-bearer of RSS, on September 1, 2014.

CBI in its charge sheet has said Manoj was one of the accused in an attack on Jayarajan in 1999.

The first accused in the Manoj killing, Vikraman, had 'a good relationship' with Jayarajan, it has said.

Jayarajan is now undergoing treatment at a Kannur hospital and his party responsibilities have been given to colleague M V Jayarajan.
