In a memorandum to state Governor J J Singh today, the association while demanding his suspension alleged that the director and his deputy misused their powers to appoint Gautam Kumar Roy, maintenance supervisor, as assistant registrar without following official procedures and guidelines.
Claiming that Roy was also under vigilance case under the Special Investigation Cell (SIC), Itanagar for his alleged involvement in embezzlement of fund meant for construction of 108 type-1 quarters at NERIST during his tenure as construction supervisor, ANYA questioned as to why the director appointed him to the post of assistant registrar without taking NOC from SIC.
Further, it appealed the Governor to instruct the concerned authority to fill up the backlog reserved vacancies for SC/ST/OBC, visually impaired and persons with disabilities as per the directives of the Union HRD ministry at the earliest.
