Sand mafia today attacked a woman tehsildar (revenue officer) near Devuni Kadapa, 5 km from the Kadapa district headquarters.
The car of Chennur tehsildar Santhamma was pelted with stones when she tried to seize some sand excavation machinery. Assailants dragged out the revenue inspector who was with her, officials said.
Officials have seized sand dumps at Chennur and Obulampalli. Police are probing the assault.
