Sitting MP from Araku (ST) constituency in Andhra Pradesh, Kothapalli Geetha, today announced formation of a new political party 'Jana Jagruti.'

Addressing a press meet here, Geetha said she has quit her Lok Sabha membership and forwarded a letter to the Speaker on August 21.

"I am now floating a new party. It will give 33 per cent seats to women in the coming elections," Geetha said.

Geetha was elected to the Lok Sabha in 2014 as YSR Congress candidate but has been staying away from the party.

Lashing out at the YSRC, she alleged that the lone opposition party was cheating people only to further its political interests.

Though she did not reveal anything more about her new party, Geetha said 33 per cent reservation would be provided to women in the coming elections.
