Araku Lok Sabha MP Kothapalli Geetha has expressed her opposition to the Andhra Pradesh government's move allowing mining of bauxite on forest land in Agency area of the district.
"I am against any type of mining, including bauxite mining, as it will affect peaceful life and also the livelihood of girijans (tribals)," Geetha told reporters here.
The government recently issued a GO allowing bauxite mining on 1212 hectares of forest land, evoking sharp protests from opposition and tribals.
