The Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment Department's decision to sell 'archana' articles through their own counters at a reasonable cost in some temples had been welcomed by Pilgrims, HR and CE Commissioner P Dhanapal said today.
The articles were being sold at Rs 25 per plate, he told reporters here after a visit to the famous Sri Dhandhayuthapani Swamy temple here.
He said a total of 5,351 temples had been consecrated and 3,700 acres of temple lands retrieved last year in the state.
He said santiary works and security had been handed over to private companies under outsourcing plan.
