Armed persons attack police party, flee with undertrial

Seven unidentified armed persons allegedly attacked

a police team of Ludhiana and got freed a drug peddler today.

Swaran Singh was to be produced in a local court for hearing in a criminal case, police said.

A three-member team of Ludhiana police comprising Assistant Sub Inspector Mehar Chand and head constables Sarbjit Singh and Mangal Singh brought Swaran to the district in a bus.

The armed persons, who were in two vehicles, attacked the police team near the bus stand and released the undertrial.

The matter was being probed, police said.
