Some arms and ammunition were recoverd from an abandoned well at Salboni, an erstwhile Maoist-hit area in West Midnapore district early today.
Police said four country-made guns, 17 cartridges and two magazines were found in the well at Hatimari village.
The well had dried up and the villagers had spotted the arms and ammunition in it last evening and informed the police.
It is suspected that the arms and ammunition were dumped by the Maoists during the crackdown by joint forces to escape being caught.
