To provide health and specialist medical facilities to people living in a remote and far-flung island of the Sundarbans, a day-long medical camp was organised by the Indian Army.
The camp at Kachuberia in Ganga Sagar island, provided medical, surgical, gynaecological and dental consultation yesterday by specialists from Base Hospital, Barrackpore and Military Hospital, Panagarh.
Besides the local population, ex-servicemen and their families were also given medical treatment at the camp held under the aegis of Headquarters Bengal Area of the army.
Health education posters and handouts were displayed and distributed to increase health awareness among local population on common health problems in the area.
