The cheque was handed over by army's Northern Command on behalf of Gen Bipin Rawat, Chief of the Army Staff.

"#COAS gives Rs 1 Lakh each to fatal & 25 thousand to injured victims of terror attack on GREF Camp at Battal @adgpi," the Northern Command tweeted.

Three civilians working as labourers were killed yesterday in a pre-dawn terror attack by militants on a General Engineering Reserve Force camp near LoC in Akhnoor sector of Jammu.

Last week, Rawat had said that plans are on the anvil to bring in a shift in the counter-insurgency strategy in Kashmir in which "false" propaganda inspiring youth to take up arms will be targeted rather than individuals alone.
