Army jawan killed in snow avalanche

A snow avalanche hit Macchil sector of Kashmir today killing an army jawan, a defence spokesman said.

"A snow avalanche struck in the general area of Macchil this evening. One soldier was killed in the incident," the spokesman said.

The chances of avalanches in higher reaches of Kashmir has increased following recent snowfall across the Valley.
