Praising all ranks of the Northern Command for their dedication and devotion to duty, the senior-most Army officer in Jammu and Kashmir today awarded officers and other ranks for their distinguished services.
The General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) of the Army's Udhampur based Northern Command Lt Gen D S Hooda appreciated the role of the Army during an investiture ceremony in which 29 officers and other ranks were awarded.
"In a glittering ceremony, the Army Commander presented 18 Sena Medals (Gallantry),three Sena Medal (Distinguished Service), two Yudh Seva Medals and six Vishisht Seva Medals," Udhampur based defense spokesman Col S D Goswami said.

He said the General Officer also presented GOC-in-C Unit Appreciation to 26 units for their outstanding performance in 2014.
"A total of 11 civilians were also felicitated for their outstanding assistance rendered to the Army during the floods in the State. The investiture ceremony was attended by senior civil, military and para-military dignitaries," he said.
He said the army commander praised all ranks of the Northern Command for their dedication and devotion to duty in the highest traditions of the Indian Army.
"He congratulated those who were decorated for bravery and distinguished service. He also urged all ranks, ex-servicemen, civilians and their families to rededicate themselves to the cause of the Nation," the spokesman said.
Appreciating the civilians, the General Officer said they displayed a close bonhomie during the rescue and relief operations undertaken by the Army during last year's floods in the state.
