All necessary arrangements have been finalised for the annual Kheer Bhawani mela next month in Ganderbal district of central Kashmir, an official spokesman said today.
The arrangements for the mela to be celebrated on June 17 were finalised at a high-level meeting, chaired by the Ganderbal Deputy Commissioner, he said.
Threadbare discussions were held pertaining to setting up of medical camps, sanitation, availability of essentials, traffic management and drinking water facilities during the festival which draws thousands of Kashmiri Pandits from across the country.

The Kheer Bhawani mela has over the years become a source of reunion for Kashmiri Pandits following their mass exodus from the Valley in the wake of eruption of militancy in early 1990s.
It also serves as a reminder of communal harmony between Muslims and Kashmiri Hindus as the former make almost all arrangements for the latter's stay.
