The second edition of the Arunachal Film Festival, an initiative of the department of Information and Public Relation (IPR), will start from February 28 to showcase films and documentaries by enterprising individuals and government agencies.
"The festival is a project started to encourage and foster the film making talent of budding entrepreneurs of the state," IPR secretary Dani Sulu told a press conference here today.
He said, the festival would provide a platform to both budding and seasoned filmmakers, artists and technicians to encourage interaction and exchange of creative ideas among them.
"Workshop on 'concept, script writing and direction' by Ashan Mujid, a reknowned film maker from Assam and 'basic cinematography' by Ajay Tandon from Mumbai have been scheduled during the three-day event so that aspiring filmmakers can hone their talents," Sulu disclosed.
A competition section in filmmaking with the theme 'Unity in Diversity' (in context to Arunachal) has also been introduced where 14 selected five minutes duration film would participate.
A cash award of one lakh, seventy five thousand and 50 thousand would be given to the first, second and third award winning films.
Five feature films - Aati Peying, Ajin, Crossing Bridges, Heijum Tangkanam and Kal Aaj Aur Kaal, all produced by local producers along with five documentaries namely.
Nayi Raah Oyi, Losar, Walking with the city and Women empowerment and child development would be screened during the festival.
The saga of film making in Arunachal began in 1974 with Rasmi Rekha, an Assamese film produced and then Mera Dharam, Meri Maa by Dr Bhupen Hazarika in 1975.
The state government last year proposed constitution of Arunachal Pradesh Film Corporation along with a corpus fund to help budding film makers of the state, Sulu informed and added that the proposal was under process.
