Decks for the formation of four new districts in Arunachal Pradesh were cleared with Governor Lt Gen (Rtd) Nirbhay Sharma giving his assent today, official sources said here.
The frontier state, presently with 17 districts, will have 21 districts now, they said.
The state Legislative Assembly, in its session in March last year, had passed the Arunachal Pradesh (Re-Organisation of Districts) (Amendment) Bill, 2013, paving way for creation of the four new districts - Kra Daadi, Namsai, Siang and Lower Siang districts.

With the Governor's assent, a notification in this regard would be issued soon, sources said.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Nabam Tuki in a statement said that the people's aspirations have been at last fulfilled.
"Ours is a pro-people government. Therefore all the decisions are taken after taking into account the genuineness, necessity and popular demand of the people. Our decisions are not ours but of the people," Tuki was quoted as saying by the statement.
