Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress President Yashpal Arya has resigned from his post, highly placed party sources said here today.
Arya, who is also the state Disaster Management and Revenue Minister, tendered his resignation to AICC chief Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi a couple of days back, a senior party functionary here said requesting anonymity.
It is not clear what led to his resignation.

Speculation about a change in state party leadership was rife ever since Congress came to power in the state in 2012.
Even the then AICC general secretary incharge of party affairs in Uttarakhand Chaudhry Virendra Singh had given indications to this affect citing Arya's multiplicity of responsibilities both as a minister and party chief.
However, there has been no statement from Arya himself on his resignation. Efforts to reach him on the phone went unresponded.
