ASI and Child Development Programme supervisor held

An Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police (ASI) and a child development programme supervisor were arrested today on graft charge by the Special Vigilance Units (SVUs) from Bihar's East Champaran and West Champaran districts, an official said.

Acting on a complaint, an SVU team arrested the ASI Satyadev Singh, posted at Nakardei police station in East Champaran district, for taking Rs. 6,000 bribe from one Ravi Kumar for making an entry in a case diary about a case, the Director General of Police (DG), Vigilance, P.K. Thakur said.

In a related development, another SVU team arrested the Ram Nagar Child Development Programme Office supervisor Asha Kumari for receiving Rs. 9,000 as bribe from one Lalchuni Devi, an Anganwadi Sevika in Sigarbigari village, in lieu of payment of her honorarium, he said.
 

The two have been booked under provisions of the prevention of corruption act, Thakur said, adding that they will be produced before a designated vigilance court for judicial remand.
