ASI mowed down by truck

A police officer was killed after he was hit by a truck at Amdanga in North 24 Parganas district today.

Asim Misra (48), posted as Assistant Sub-Inspector at Amdanga police station, was dropped by a police jeep at Sonadanga More near the police quarters after duty hours. He was crossing the road when he was hit by the truck. Misra died on the spot, a police officer said.

A mob protested the accident by blocking the road in the area for sometime.

The ASI hailed from Subhasgram in neighbouring South 24 Parganas district.
